Support Worker Careers in St Austell, Cornwall

Do Work that Actually Matters

United Support Services supports adults with learning disabilities and autism across St Austell and the surrounding area.

We’re looking for reliable, curious people who want to get involved, help people build confidence and independence, and keep learning about what good support really looks like.

You do not need to know everything when you join us. What matters is that you care about doing good work and are willing to learn.

WHY WORK WITH US

More Than Just a Job

We want people who are interested in doing good work, learning more and helping the people we support get more from everyday life.

Get Out and Do Things

Support often means helping people access their community, take part in activities, try new experiences and build confidence outside the home.

Build Your Skills

Develop your confidence through training, supervision and ongoing learning — whether you’re new to care or already experienced.

Understand People

Learn more about communication, autism, sensory needs, emotional regulation and Positive Behaviour Support.

Grow With Us

As the organisation develops, there are opportunities to take on more responsibility and progress into senior, specialist or management roles.

HOW WE WORK

We Look Beyond the Behaviour

When behaviour becomes difficult, we do not treat it as something that happens because of a person’s disability.

We try to understand what the person may be communicating, what happened before, what they may need and what we can learn from the situation.

Positive Behaviour Support

Our PBS team works alongside staff to review behaviour, identify patterns and find practical ways to improve quality of life.

Behaviour Analysis

We also work with a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, bringing specialist behavioural expertise into our practice.

PACE & Positive Behaviour Management

Staff are trained in approaches including PACE and Positive Behaviour Management to help them respond calmly, safely and consistently.

PERMA & Wellbeing

We use the PERMA framework to think about wellbeing through positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning and achievement.
